Answers to common questions about our PDF accessibility testing and remediation services.

Frequently Asked Questions

This FAQ covers common questions about PDF accessibility testing, remediation, compliance standards, pricing, and turnaround times. If you’re unsure whether your documents meet accessibility requirements, this page explains what to expect.

What type of documents do you make accessible?

We remediate existing PDF documents of all types, including scanned PDFs, image-based files, and both tagged and untagged PDFs. We can also create fully accessible (tagged) PDFs from source files such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe InDesign, Publisher, and similar formats.

What accessibility standards do you meet?

We work to the accessibility standards required for your project. If you are unsure which standards apply, we typically recommend WCAG 2.2 Level AA in combination with PDF/UA, as this aligns with most legal, regulatory, and procurement requirements. This approach is widely accepted for compliance with Section 508, the ADA, and AODA.

Can you tell me if my files are accessible or not?

Yes. We offer free PDF accessibility testing to determine whether your documents meet accessibility requirements. Our review identifies common accessibility and compliance issues and helps you understand whether remediation is needed.

How do you test your files?

We test documents using a combination of industry-standard accessibility testing tools, detailed human review, and screen reader testing with NVDA to ensure real-world usability and compliance.

Can you make complex tables accessible in PDF documents?

Yes. We can make both simple and complex tables accessible, including financial documents and PDFs with detailed or multi-level data, by applying proper structure, headers, and relationships so they are usable with assistive technologies.

Do you make accessible forms?

Yes. We create fillable, accessible PDF forms that are properly labeled and fully usable with screen readers and other assistive technologies.

What is the expected turnaround time?

Turnaround time varies depending on the number, length, and complexity of the documents. Each project is unique, so we provide realistic timelines after reviewing your files and determining the scope of remediation.

How much do you charge?

We do not use a standard pricing schedule, as the cost to make a PDF accessible varies depending on the document’s length, structure, and complexity. Pricing is based on an evaluation of your files and the specific accessibility requirements involved. You’re welcome to request a quote or contact us to discuss your project in more detail.

Our minimum charge is $30 per document.

Can I get an estimate of the cost?

Yes. You can request a quote and we’ll provide an estimate after reviewing your documents and requirements.

Do I have to pay money up front?

On most projects, we do not require that any money be paid up front to complete the required work until the end product has been delivered. However, we do reserve the right to ask for a portion of the funds in specific cases.

What if I need changes? Do I have to pay extra?

If changes are needed due to a difference of interpretation or accessibility requirements, we will adjust the document to the agreed standard at no additional cost, provided the request is made within three days of delivery of the final files.

If changes result from new or revised content provided after remediation work has begun, we will do our best to accommodate them. Depending on the timing and scope of those changes, additional charges may apply.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept a number of payment options, including credit cards (preferred), checks or USD stable coins such as USDC.
